Post-op:
Teeth whitening
The following are the most common post-whitening symptoms you may experience and our instructions to maintain a beautiful white smile!
-
TOOTH SENSITIVITY
-
During the first 24 hours after a whitening treatment, some patients can experience some tooth sensitivity or pain
-
This is normal and is usually mild, but can be worse in some individuals with existing sensitivity
-
-
People with existing sensitivity, recession, exposed dentin, exposed root surfaces, recently cracked teeth, open cavities, leaking fillings, or other dental conditions that cause sensitivity or allow penetration of the gel into the tooth may find that this can cause longer sensitivity or pain after treatment
-
-
PAIN
-
If your teeth are sensitive after whitening, a mild pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil will help make you more comfortable
-
We recommend using a sensitivity toothpaste for 7-10 following your treatment
-
-
GUM, LIP, OR CHEEK INFLAMMATION
-
Whitening may cause inflammation and sensitivity of your gums, lips, or cheeks and will only last a couple days.
-
-
MAINTAIN YOUR SPARKLING SMILE!
-
Avoid drinking dark liquids and foods - (repetitive drinking of coffee, tea and wine)
-
Practice good oral hygiene by using an electric toothbrush and floss twice a day
-
Use at home whitening kit for touch-ups as recommended by the dentist
